Tips for Teams
FUNDRAISING TIPS
BE A GREAT TEAM CAPTAIN!
Lead Your Team to Raise the Most Funds & Have the Most FUN!
KNOW YOUR CAUSE
Learn about Big Brothers Big Sisters and its Mission so that
you can answer questions about where the money will go. People
are very generous if they understand the power of their donation.
People are especially willing to give if they know that their donation
goes to support the children and youth in their community. All
funds raised for Bowl for Kids are used to support local programs!
MAKE A PLEDGE YOURSELF
Pledging yourself first, no matter what amount you can afford,
shows your commitment to the Big Brothers Big Sisters' Mission of
providing one-to-one friendship, guidance and opportunities to children
and youth.
HELP YOUR TEAM MEMBERS
Start by pledging to each Team Member, no matter what amount
you can afford, making a pledge to your Team Members shows your
commitment to the Big Brothers Big Sisters Mission showing that you
want to help children and youth to become more confident, competent and
caring individuals. Help your Team Members with ideas on how to
raise money, hold a group fundraising activity with the proceeds split
amongst your Team Members as pledges for Bowl for Kids.
HOLD A GROUP FUNDRAISING ACTIVITY
You and your Team CAN hold your own Fundraising Activity prior
to the event to raise more funds. Here are some Ideas of Possible
Activities: A Bake Sale, A Garage Sale, A Pop Can Drive, Dress Down
Friday's Fund at the Office, A Collection Jar. Be Creative!
Let Big Brothers Big Sisters know if you're planning an Activity and
we'll help you to promote it!
CHECK IF YOUR EMPLOYER HAS A
MATCHING FUNDS PROGRAM
Many larger companies have a Matching Funds Program where the
company will match the amount of money you donate to Charitable
Causes. Find out if your employer does this so that they can
match your contribution to Bowl for Kids. Otherwise, ask your
employer if they are willing to pledge.
CHALLENGE ANOTHER TEAM
Do you know another Team Captain? Add some playful
competition and Challenge another Team. Go for a Crazy Challenge
like the Best Dressed Team or the Wackiest Hats. Or Challenge for
the most Funds Raised. Let BBBS know about your Challenge and
maybe you'll hear about your Team on the Local Radio Stations!
JUST ASK
Don't be afraid to ask and never under estimate the amount
that a person may be willing to give...investing in the children and
youth in your community is a GREAT CAUSE that most people believe
in! Ask your family, friends, neighbors, co-workers, teachers,
members of groups and organizations that you belong to, businesses,
perhaps start a letter writing campaign to the people you know.
